  Policies & Fees


Media Center Requirements:
  1. 18 years of age minimum
  2. Possession of a Huntington Beach Library Card (non-residents please inquire about the media only card at no charge.)
  3. Possession of a valid California Driver's License or ID.
  4. Valid verification of current address.
Financial Responsibility:
  1. Card holder assumes all financial responsibility for materials checked out on their card.
  2. Damaged or lost items will be replaced at the card holder's expense.

Return of Media Materials:

There is a 24-hour video drop (for videos only) located on the wall to the left of the Central Library's main entrance.  All other Media items must be returned on the date due, during operating hours, to the Media desk.  Do NOT return Media items in book drops or non-video items in the video drop.  Doing so will result in a $1.00 surcharge per item.  There is no credit, exchange, or refund granted for early returns.
 
 Problems?
 
 Please report problems to Library staff.  Do not repair media items yourself.  The Library is not responsible for any additions or alterations to the original material.
 
 Overdue fines*
 
 Videos & DVDs: $1.00 per day
 Compact Discs: $.25 per day
 Books on Compact Disc: $.50 per day
 Books on Cassette: $.50 per day
 Children's Books on Cassette: $.15 per day
 
 *An additional $10.00 collection fee is charged on each account with items 30 days overdue.
 

Material Rental Fees

Video Tapes:
Fiction/Entertainment : $1.00 or $2.00 + tax (2 days)
Non-fiction/Educational : $1.00 or $2.00 + tax (2 days)
Non-fiction/Educational : $2.00 or $4.00 + tax (1 week)

DVDs: $1.00 or $2.00 + tax (2 days)
Compact discs: $1.00 or $2.00 (1 week)
Books on CD: 75 cents per disc (3 weeks)
Audio/Books on Cassettes: 50 cents per tape (3 weeks)

Computer Usage Fees

PC Compatible computers with Internet Access: $5 / hr.
Laser Prints (B&W): $.25 per page

Laser Prints (Color): $.75 per page

 

Legal and viewing considerations:

Library materials may not be used where admission is charged.  Permission to duplicate or telecast any title in the library collection must be obtained from the producer or distributor of the title.  The Library is not responsible for material content.  It is the borrower's responsibility to determine audience suitability. 

 

Hours:

Monday: 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm

Friday and Saturday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm

Sunday: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
