How to access the Chilton's Auto Repair database from home.

1. Log into the Database Access page with your library barcode # and PIN # (last four digits of phone number).

2. From the orange left side menu, click on the link called GALE Infotrac (Magazines|Auto Repair) (see image below)

3. A window should pop up with the Gale Databases search box.

4. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen. The 5th menu icon up from the bottom will be ChiltonLibrary.com (see image below)

5. Click on the ChiltonLibrary icon and follow the instructions on the screen.

The Library provides a variety of electronic research databases free of charge onsite in the Reference Department of the Central Library.

Most databases are also accessible over the Internet to patrons with a valid Huntington Beach Public Library card and (PIN).

ABC CLIO (History|Geography) - Seven social studies websites offer everything you need for research projects or homework help!

COLUMBIA GRANGER'S (World of Poetry) - searchable database of poems, poets, and index to anthologies.

CQ RESEARCHER (Debates|Essays) - In-depth reports and opposing viewpoint analysis on news, social trends, international affairs, education, environment, technology, and more

GALE INFOTRAC (Magazines|Auto Repair) - Full text access to magazine and newspaper articles, journals, encyclopedia, health & business. Newly added resources of auto repair manuals, and student research resources such as science resource center.

GALE Litfinder (Poems|Plays|Speeches) Search full-text Poems, Speeches, Plays, Essays, Stories.

HERITAGE QUEST (Genealogy|Census) - Resource for census data, family, banking and military records, genealogies, local histories.

LEARNING EXPRESS (Practice Exams) - Practice employment and academic exams and tutorials: AP, ASVAB, Real Estate, TOEFL, GED, SAT, ACT.

LITERARY REFERENCE (Literacy Criticism) - Research literary criticism for authors and works across literary disciplines and timeframes.

MARQUIS WHO'S WHO (Biographies) - Profiles on over 1.3 million of the most accomplished individuals from all fields.

PROQUEST (OC Register|LA Times) - Searchable articles from Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, Wall Street Journal, Christian Science Monitor, New York Times, and Washington Post newspapers from 1985 to current.

RAND CALIFORNIA - Statistical databases specializing in Business, Economics, Health, and Public Opinion.

REFERENCE USA (Telephone Directory) - Searchable Phone Book Directory and information on over 12 million U.S. companies plus national residential directory.

WILSON WEB - Fiction Catalog, Book Review Digest, Play Index, Current Biography Illustrated, Famous First Facts, and Short Story Index.
