Public Libraries in OC

Reference Services is the starting point for finding library materials. Librarians help find books and other materials, offer research suggestions and assist with databases and other reference materials.

Listen and read online Tumble Readables.

Local HB Info :  A community information database of frequently asked questions compiled by Reference Librarians is now available to the public.

More local information can be found on the About/History webpage. One file particularly useful for students researching Huntington Beach is the street names history .

Reference Desk
During regular library hours the Reference Desk is staffed by librarians available to assist patrons in person or over the phone with their questions.

Phone: (714) 842-4481 (number 6 on the phone tree)

Business and Finance
The library subscribes to dozens of financial magazines and newspapers, investment newsletters and market statistics resources. Current editions of many of the best-known business directories are kept in the Reference Department as are several databases of interest to business users.
Not finding a book that you need?
If you have not yet done so, please search our Library Catalog to verify that the title is unavailable.

The library offers Interlibrary Loan service for $3.00 per request ($5 for microfilm), which will search libraries nationwide. Interlibrary loan takes 2-5 weeks with no guarantee of fulfillment. You must make your Interlibrary loan request in person at the Central Library Reference desk and pay at the time of request.

Try the new WorldCat Search service to search surrounding libraries.

You may also suggest a book be added to the library's collection by emailing our Reference Department which takes 2-5 months with no guarantee of approval. All requests will be reviewed by professional librarian subject specialists who decide if the book meets the library's collection guidelines.
