Volunteer Opportunities at the Library

Library Volunteers can:

  • Make new friends
  • Gain new perspectives
  • Learn new skills
  • Provide valuable services
  • Become involved in the community
  • Make a difference!

Be a volunteer at the Central Library, or at one of the four Library Branches located throughout Huntington Beach.

Volunteers donate over 32,000 hours annually to the Huntington Beach Public Library System, which equate to over $525,000 in personnel savings, helping us provide excellent library programs and services.

Where can volunteers help?

Library Branches
Just one library employee staffs each of the Library branches.  Therefore, an ongoing need exists for volunteers at these special neighborhood libraries to help find materials for patrons, check books in and out, and reshelve materials.  Homework assistance and "grandparent" readers are also needed. To volunteer, please contact the branch directly:
